Celebrating 25 years of service, Southern Comfort Conversions continues to set the pace as one of the leaders in the conversion van business. Established in 1979 as AAA Auto Truck and Trailer, the company originally served as a remanufacturer of van chassis for companies like Krispy Kreme and Frito Lay. By the mid-1980s, owner and founder Rod McSweeney had the foresight to recognize a unique business opportunity in the making—purchasing new vans, customizing them, and then selling the vans back to the new car dealers. Thus, the company shifted its focus and picked up a new name—Southern Comfort Conversions.

In 1988, Southern Comfort became an upfitter for the GMC division of General Motors, and soon the company was providing conversion vans to dealerships throughout the Southeastern United States, as well as selected regions in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and the West.

With over 200 employees, Southern Comfort Conversions produces its conversion vans at its state-of-the-art facility in Trussville, Alabama.
